ISTOCZENIE ?

I have a title: "Hierarchia procesu istoczenia" -- which for now I translate as "Hierarchy of the process of essentialization" --- the article goes on about Hegel, and how being is undetermined and empty, and not in an hierarchy, but "only the process of the istoczenia of the absolute spirit is hierarchized".

Problem, “istoczyć” is not in my dictionaries.

It seems to be the Polish word used for the German "wesen", as used muchly by Hegel and Heidegger. I'm afraid I can't think of anything right now, but I'm sure a skim through related texts will suggest something workable.

Good luck!

Thanks, if "wesen" then I will go with "essentialize". I only have twenty-four hours anyways to submit the translation.

I loathe not having time to sleep (preferably for a week) on my translations. Poor you.

I saw essentialize a couple of times while poking about to see what it could be. I had wondered if it might be something like "substantialize", by analogy with przeistoczenie, but in the context essentialize is probably the way forward. There's always the consolation of it being about Hegel, therefore it doesn't matter if it sounds like nonsense ... :D
